Mac Paint Pots Review and Swatches

I’m sure I’ve already expressed how much love I have for Mac makeup. I seriously adore their stuff and I’m rarely disappointed by any of my Mac purchases. With that being said, I thought I’d share with you one of my all time favourite products from Mac, their Pro Longwear Paint Pots. There’s so many similar versions of these – both high and low end, but Mac is my go to brand for these beauties. I’ve been using these for around four years now, possibly longer!

‘Groundwork’ was the first shade I ever got after one of the Mac girls recommended it for being a great everyday shade, both on it’s own or underneath eyeshadows. I swiftly purchased it and to be honest it pretty much didn’t leave my eyes for months (not literally). I don’t actually remember it being quite as dark as it appears on the pictures, but regardless I loved it. The cool shade of brown is lovely, and it works amazingly well at keeping my eye makeup in place all day -and I mean all day. This one felt a little dry as I’ve not used it in a while, but nothing a quick swirl of the product didn’t fix. Considering I’ve had this for around four years I’m pretty damn impressed it hasn’t dried out entirely.

‘Indianwood’ was a present from two of my best friends and I love it. It’s an amazing base for a a golden/bronze smokey eye but it also looks incredible on it’s own.

After doing my research, I heard that Painterly was an amazing shade as a plain base for eye-makeup due to it being a skin colour shade. I’m actually now onto my second pot of Painterly and I don’t think I’ll ever stop buying it. It’s the best shade for evening out any redness on the lids, and my eye makeup just doesn’t budge. I use this everyday (even if I’m not applying liner or shadow), as I really appreciate that it evens out my skin tone. It’s probably worth mentioning that these little pots last a ridiculously long time too, I used Painterly pretty much everyday for about two years before I had to replace it.

I think I bought ‘Vintage Selection’ from the airport on my way to Rome. It looks crazy metallic from the swatch but it’s honestly such a lovely shade. It’s quite understated and looks extremely pretty on the eye. I love applying this all over the lid, blending out with a fluffy brush, and then adding a winged liner, creating a stunning but subtle eye look.

I love how versatile these little pots are, they’ll continue to be one my favourite Mac creations. The price may seem a little steep at £15.50, but given how amazing the quality is and how long they last, I definitely think they’re worth the extra pennies. They come in 23 shades, and if I had my way I’d own the lot! Buy them here.

Have you tried Mac Paint pots? Do you know of any dupes which are equally as good?

Love Mac paint pot! Bare study is my favorite. I used it all up. We are living in the “haul” era. It definitely says something when I actually finished it! Great post!
