Essence Longlasting Lipsticks

I’ve not heard much about Essence as a brand, I know they’re a European makeup company (but that’s pretty much where my knowledge ends). I hadn’t had the pleasure of trying any of Essence’ products, so after seeing an advertisement saying their makeup was now available in the UK (via Wilkinson’s stores), I decided to go and have a nosy. They have a lovely array of products, but, as always, I was drawn to the lipsticks straight away.

The colour ’06 – barely there’ caught my eye instantly. Kylie Jenner has had a massive influence within the blogging community after revealing the secrets behind her recent lip colour. Unlike most, I wasn’t heading straight to the nearest Mac counter to pick up Velvet Teddy lipstick and Spice lip liner, purely because despite loving the way it looks on Kylie Jenner, it isn’t a lip colour I’d usually reach for. For that reason, I didn’t want to spend around £30 for a duo that I may end up hating. Ever since, I’ve been on the lookout for a dupe lipstick at a fraction of the cost. Essence’ lipstick in ’06 – Barely there’ looked extremely similar, a mid- brown nude lipstick with a pinky undertone, at £2.30 I thought it was definitely worth a try. I paired Barely there with one of their £1 liners in the shade ’05 – soft berry’.

The liner is actually much darker than I initially thought in the shop, and although it matches the lipstick, it does darken the overall look. Unfortunately, despite a little similarity, I don’t think I’ve quite found the perfect dupe yet. It’s still a lovely lip colour for Autumn – and one that would usually be outside of my comfort zone, so I’m glad I bought it. The colour does look more Jenner-esque without the lip liner, so maybe if I get a liner that matches a little closer to the lipstick I’ll be onto a winner. If any of you have already found the perfect dupe for Jenner’s lips then please let me know in the comments!

So besides my attempt to find the perfect dupe, I also picked up ‘Wear Berries!’. I fell in love with the pinky purple shade and it’s definitely a winner for Autumn. I also bought a lip liner to match in ’15 – honey berry’, and together they’re perfect. This duo will definitely be a staple of mine over the next few months.

I’m seriously loving these lipsticks, the colours are stunning and they apply so smoothly. They aren’t drying in the slightest and actually leave a lovely satin finish which looks gorgeous. My lips will definitely appreciate it during the colder months. I was a little skeptical at how well the liners would work, purely because after trying cheap liners in the past they’ve been incredibly hard to apply and quite drying. These essence ones are super creamy, glide on amazingly well, and last forever. I definitely want to to invest in a few more products from this brand!

You can buy essence from their counters in Wilko stores, or visit their pop up stands in Westfield, London or The Arndale, Manchester.

They look great on you! I pass a Wilko’s on my way back home from work every day, and they have a giant Essence ad in their window, so I keep telling myself I should go take a look. Maybe I will now!

Bare It All by Wet n Wild is a great dup for Mac’s Velvet Teddy, if you’re still looking for one. It’s a Megalast lipstick which has a matte finish & in the states, they’re $1.99 each. Rimmel’s Airy Fairy is a light nude beige on me, though I know it sometimes comes off with pink tones on other ladies.

Oooh I’ll have to try and hunt that down but it’s fairly hard to get hold of it in the UK! I may have to try Rimmel’s though :) Thanks! x
